Located in western Panama City Beach along the shores of Lake Powell and the Gulf of Mexico, Wild Heron is a master planned 750-acre Planned Unit Development including Shark's Tooth Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman. This project includes over 11 miles of roadway and multi-span bridges, integrated and innovative storm water management features, and domestic water and sanitary sewer systems. This project was developed as a Community Development District (CDD), which provided for over $20,000,000 of infrastructure capital construction.
A unique aspect of this project was its location along the shoreline of Lake Powell, a designated Outstanding Florida Water (OFW). The storm water management strategy utilized a combination of dry retention waste bunkers, wet detention lakes, and vegetated natural buffers to provide for enhanced stormwater treatment.
